What should I do if my tooth is knocked out?

1. Find the tooth. Hold it only by the crown (the chewing part), NOT the root. 2. Gently rinse the tooth with water if it's dirty. Do NOT scrub it or remove any attached tissue. 3. If possible, gently try to place the tooth back in its socket. Hold it in place by biting on gauze. 4. If you can't re-insert it, place the tooth in a small container of milk or your own saliva. 5. Call Enso Dental immediately. Time is critical for saving the tooth.

What do I do for a severe toothache?

1. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with warm salt water. 2. Gently floss around the tooth to remove any trapped food that might be causing pain. 3. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek if there is swelling. 4. You may take an over-the-counter pain reliever like Ibuprofen, but do NOT place aspirin directly on the tooth or gums. 5. Call us immediately. A severe toothache is often a sign of infection (abscess) that requires urgent care.

What about a chipped or broken tooth?

1. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. 2. Save any large pieces of the tooth you can find and bring them with you. 3. Apply a cold compress to the area to reduce swelling. 4. Call our office to be seen as soon as possible to prevent further damage or infection.
